After winning swimsuit preliminary round, Miss Indiana Katie Stam now crowned as the Miss America 2009 Winner. Katie Stam is a communications major at the University of Indianapolis, she won the Miss Indiana title in June 2008 and she began competing in pageants at age 15.

Katie Stam goes home with $50,000 in scholarship monies, plus another $1,000 for winning the preliminary swimsuit and fitness award, and perhaps other awards accrued along the road to becoming Miss America 2009.
